Zinc plate stamped with the name and details -

Mounted on a piece of old wood (Original Marker ?)
These zinc plates were the original grave markers
Used in WW1 German Cemeteries
These were removed and replaced years ago
By proper stone memorials
These original markers were just burnt or dumped
I obtained a number of these some years ago,
All in a similar condition.
They can be researched via the German War Graves
Please note these have not been stolen or looted
But obtained via legitimate means
All from the same German war cemetery
