In 1945 he was attached to the 4th Replacement heavy Flack Battery,
Stationed in Iserlohn Germany (Rhur Pocket)
With the rank of Kanonier (Gunner)
He was hospitalised on 18th March 1945
(Illness or Wounded it doesn’t say)
By this time heavy flak units were engaged in ground combat.
Outnumbered ,outgunned & the war obviously lost
Field Marshal Walter Model dissolved Army Group B
With the Rhur pocket surrendering on 16th April,
To American forces.
With over 300,000 Pows taken
Along with at least 10,000 German dead.
