WW2 SOUTH PETHERTON HOME GUARD AWARD SHIELD- TROPHY

Large Oak shield Approx 16” x 12” in size
Mounted with a central white metal plaque
Engraved with the following words-
“North Petherton ,
Home Guard
Rifle and Social Club
Inter Section .22 Rifle
Shooting Competition “
With 12 smaller white metal shields surrounding
Only 3 have been engraved
1 dated 1943 , the other 2 dated 1944.
I’m assuming when the HG was stood down,
The trophy / shield was no longer awarded.
Some scratches to the metal work
With general tarnishing and discolouration
The mounting bracket / hanger missing from the back
But a good looking trophy
Would make a nice addition to any collection.
