SPLIT SOCKET,1853 TYPE SOCKET BAYONET & SCABBARD

1853 type socket bayonet
17” triangular blade - all markings removed / erased
The socket has been split / sawn
And fitted with an adjustable locking ring .
In what appears to be an Albini Breandlin scabbard

I believe this was done to various socket bayonets
Within the last 50 or so years
To supply the film industry (MGM etc )
Not often seen an interesting addition to any collection.
