27-mm x 23-mm nickel silver ? polygon with raised edges.
At the top of the obverse, the relief inscription in three lines covered to the left "Honoured MILITARY PILOT" (Russian: ЗАСЛУЖЕННЫЙ ВОЕННЫЙ ЛËТЧИК), With a gilt jet climbing diagonally towards the right .
At the bottom, the relief inscription "USSR"
(Russian: СССР) superimposed over a laurel branch.
Reverse is hand numbered (54)
With two domed rivets (Holding the plane in place ?)
The badge fitted to a standard Soviet square mount
With screw back domed fixing / spinner
With a ring through suspension loop.
The mount was covered with a Red silk ribbon
