PRE WAR SOFT LEATHER SOVIET ? FLYING HELMET
Unusual Soft Brown Leather flying helmet
With a full black cotton lining
Lining having a set of off white issue stamps
These appear to be Russian / Cyrillic
With two false ear flaps
As in they don’t cover any openings and have no practical use.
Two leather vertical straps.
These are used to secure the flying goggle strap.
Simple double loop chin strap buckle
Very well made , leather is supple & displays well.
I can’t pin down this exact model of Helmet
It came from an established collection of Flying kit
The collector had it listed as WW2 Russian
It’s very similar to ones I’ve seen online
Though not identical.
I’ve also seen a similar helmet described as-
1930’s Friitalla summer flying helmet (Finnish)
Please make up your own minds.
Examine the pictures carefully-
They make up part of the the description
