PRE WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN MEDAL GROUP

Very nice early German Medal bar ,
Consisting of the following -

Hannovarian 1866 Langensalza medal
Prussian 1870 / 71 War medal
(Two x Bars to Ribbon -SPICHEREN & METZ)
Prussian 1897 centenary medal
Prussian Silver State Honour Decoration.

An interesting combination of awards .
Hannover along with Bavaria sided with Austria
In the 1866 Austro Prussian War
The Hannovarian Army won a victory over Prussia
At the battle of Langensalza June 27th 1866.
Unable to meet up with their Bavarian Allies
They later surrendered to a superior Prussian force
Leading to the annexation of Hannover by Prussia
Then latterly their inclusion-
Into a modern unified Germany.
So these belonged to a Hannovarian soldier
Who then joined the Prussian Army
Serving in the Franco Prussian War
Then latterly being awarded -
The silver Prussian State Honour Decoration ..
An attractive early medal group
Not often seen a cracking addition to any collection .
