WWI PERIOD TYROLEAN KAISERJAGER TUNIC
Pike Grey Tunic, With Green collar and cuffs
Single hook & eye fixing to the neck
A single five pointed star to each side of the collar
Six gilt ball buttons to the front ,
With two on the back along with Green piping
(See photo )
Inside fully lined with quilted silk
With a single internal pocket
No makers / Tailors labels at all.
Just 40c (40 Chest ?) in black ink / pen
A few small random moth holes / nips
With a small repair to one shoulder.
But nothing to detract from the uniform
I’d have thought the moth nips could be repaired
(By someone skilled with a needle and thread)
A well made tunic with definite age
A nice addition to any WW1 collection
Some online research shows one almost identical
Being sold in 2023 in a German / Austrian auction
(Dorotheum)
Described as a uniform of -
A Subaltern Officer of the Tyrolean Kaiserjager
Also probably a pattern used by -
Police / Gendarmerie after 1945 .
The only difference between what I have listed
Compared to the Uniform sold in Auction
Are the following
This Tunic has Five pointed stars to the collar
The Auction Tunic appears to have Six pointed stars
The rear on this has Two ball buttons to the rear
The Auction tunic has Six buttons to the rear.
The Auction tunic also has a ball button to each cuff
This tunic has none .
Please make your own mind up re the tunic
This was part of my collection for years ,
(It was purchased as Austro Hungarian)
