1940 DATED BRITISH GPO HELMET (PAINTED)

Nice Original Home Front GPO helmet.
Grey Painted 1940 dated helmet,
With three holes to each side of the rim.
Indicating made of mild steel,
As such not fit for military service.
Intended for Home Front / Civil Defence use.
With GPO in white paint across the front.
The painted finish has a very old rust bloom
It’s stable and does not detract from the helmet
It’s now got a Grey / Brown / almost Khaki colour to it
Original maker marked black oil cloth liner
Stamped -B.M.B 11- 1940
With separate crown cushion
Both held in place by a small screw bolt
Complete with spring mounted khaki cloth chin strap.

A nice untouched helmet ,in good collectible condition
Along with the other GPO helmet listed
This came directly from the family of a Wartime
GPO / Home Guard member .
