A quick internet search shows -
The Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon Nr. 4 (IV.40) Was recruited in Halle an der Saale Saxony-Anhalt.
The designation "IV.40" links the battalion to the 4th Army Corps District (IV. Armeekorps, headquartered in Magdeburg) and the 40th Landsturm Brigade administrative area.
