Original Old Contemptible Association badge
Bronze , with half moon fixing to rear,
Complete with issue number and makers marking.

The association was formed on 25th June 1925
By Captain JP Danny (Royal Artillery)
Being open to -
Members of the BEF who served in France/ Flanders
Within the range of enemy guns
Between 5th August & 22nd November 1914
They called themselves “The Old Contemptible’s”
The name arose due to comment made by kaiser Bill
Regarding Sir John French’s
“Contemptible little Army” .
(A comment he lived to regret no doubt)

A nice collectable item and I believe researchable
With the issue number to the back.
