SCARCE WARTIME US MADE RAF “CRUSHER CAP”

American made RAF Warrant Officers cap.
Fashioned in the US crusher style
With a turned down crown for that 50 mission look !
Brass WO badge to the front ,
With red fell backing to the crown
Never been fitted with a cap band -
There’s no difference at all in the colour across the cap.
Black plastic kings crown RAF side buttons
Black rexine type adjustable chin strap
Padded red material lining with a celluloid diamond
(unfortunately I’m unable to read what was on it)
Leather liner band a little bit fragile
It’s been re tacked in places but totally original
Double maker marked inside-
“Created by Youngs - New York Kushion fit”
“Suede Felt the Youngs Touch”
(Both embossed in gold lettering)
Could have been worn by a RAF serviceman
Who trained in the United States
Or even a member of the Volunteer Eagle Squadron.
Either way it’s a scarce cap .
Something that doesn’t turn up often at all.
Condition is pretty good,
Two very minor moth nips under the crown
Slight graze on the peak
And as mentioned a slightly fragile leather liner band
A nice piece for any RAF collection
