1881 DATED FRENCH 1874 PATTERN “Gras” BAYONET

French 1874 Gras Bayonet
Straight T backed blade maker marked & dated
“St Etienne 1881”
Brass mounted hilt with shaped walnut grips
Held in place by two rivets .
Steel cross guard with swept forward quillion
Complete in its tapered steel blackened scabbard.
Non matching numbers on bayonet & scabbard
But they appear to have been together a long time
The patina on both matches exactly.
Some pitting to the bayonet leaf spring
Marking to the wooden grips
With the blade having a shiny grey colouring.
All in all a nice example in good collectable condition
